I was wondering if anyone had seen anything regarding ATOS giving anybody a
little leeway if their ESA50 is due to be returned in that same week as the post strike on
4th November?
thanks

Hi d,
Historically, neither The DWP nor ATOS have made allowances for Bank Holidays, or postal strikes.
Therefore, it would be advisable to allow for any such strikes, etc, to ensure that any ESA50's, appeals forms, etc, etc are received by DWP/ATOS by any deadline date requirements.
Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS

imho i have various mitigating circumstances that are converging into a comedy of errors in that particular week.
at the very best i can get someone to take them to the post office for me the day before they are due do you think that would be ok?
or should i contact them to ask for a few days grace? not sure who to contact or their email address either though.

Hi d,
There are no legal provisions to provide an extension to the 4 weeks allowed to fill in and return an ESA50 :
How long do I have to complete the ESA50?
If at all possible I would ensure that it is returned by the deadline.
If you can post it on the preceding day of the deadline by Special Guaranteed Next Day Delivery, which I believe has to be done before noon on the day of posting, it should be delivered on deadline.

I have noticed recently that some Post Offices will accept Special Guaranteed Next Day delivery letters by 4.45 pm however I would strongly advise that you always contact the Post Office you intend using in advance to check their cut-off time. I have found the 4.45 pm cut off useful when I am panicking trying to complete a DWP form and running out of time.
