ESA increase date? and can you study on ESA? was created by neptune1980
Hello all,
I have a few questions here?
1) Just wondering when did ESA go up £105.95 to £106.50 per week?
2) were there any increases between that?
3) Also what dates was ESA £105.95 per week from and until?
4) Anyone know how long the assessment stage is for ESA?
5) and what the rate of ESA was for the assessment stage between Nov 2011 and May 2012?
6) I was also wondering, can you do a part time course (not at University) for maybe 6 hours per week if you are on ESA Support Group Contribution Based?
7) and if you can, do you have to inform the ESA Department?
8) If you do, is there a chance it could cause a review of your ESA and the date of an assessment brought forward?
Hope someone can help?

Neptune
1. April 2013
2. No
3. The previous SG rate was £71.00 + 34.05 = £105.05 (2012-13)
4. If this was a new claim then then there is no time limit for the Assessment phase, but once an award is made then payments at the full rate should be made from the beginning of week 14 of the claim, so if it lasted more than 13 weeks there should be a back payment.
If it was a transfer then there is no assessment period.
5. £67.50 for an adult over 25.
6. In principle yes, but you would need to check the course description to check it is not described as full time, also if attending the course contradicts your stated limitations you may be opening yourself up to a re-assessment of your claim.
7. I cannot find a definitive answer, but would err on the side of caution and say yes.
8. Yes, see 6

If you don't tell them you''re doing the course, then how would they know?

Failing to tell a relevant agency details of a material fact, can lead to a claimants benefit being suspended and in some cases withdrawn with the possibility of an over payment.
