From your post this appears to be a NHS funding issue, which we cannot help you with on the forum, all I can suggest is that you speak to your GP about the problem.

I have had the same problem. When the DWP stopped my benefit in April saying I was fit to work I asked my GP to refer me to NHS chiropodist which she did. I had one appointment and was told I did not qualify for NHS treatment. I am Diabetic and my two large toenails are ingrowing :( so I have had to go back to my private chiropodist.

I am waiting for the result of my appeal yesterday and if I have lost I do not know how I am going to afford the chiropodist and I also pay for regular Bowen Therapy which helps with my back problems - the current government have a lot to answer for.

As a Diabetic we are supposed to take precautions so that we do not develop complications but the way things are going there are going to be Diabetics with complications in the future because the NHS are not doing preventative treatment.

I have my nails cut on the NHS at my GP's practice due to various medical problems and thick nails which neither I, nor my wife a retired nurse can manage. However, they will only cut them every three months, so in-between I have to pay a private Chiropodist who charges me £20 for a home visit, which is less than other private Chiropodists in my area charge.

I agree with Gordon that this is an NHS issue, but sometimes moderators are prepared to answer queries not directly connected to benefits or appeals.

See: Can I get chiropody on the NHS

Hope this helps :)
