Hi guys, just want to say thank you so much for your site and the excellent advice on ESA and PiP claims. Using your information I have just been awarded standard rate in both components of PIP.
Not entirely successful mind you, as I now have to appeal the fact they have dropped me from Enhanced Mobility Rate to the standard rate.

So your site will come in useful as I do battle again!

Anyone know how long it will be until they take my Motability car off of me??

Hi wd1964,

A mooted congratulations on your PIP Awards as it seems that you are not entirely happy !! :)

You should be aware that if you request an MR/Appeal the Standard Award Mobility, they will look at both your Daily Living and Mobility awards from scratch.

Although it is not that common, there is the possibility that you could lose points that you have already been awarded on either DL or Mob.

Therefore, you need to risk assess how safe your current Standard awards are.

i.e. Did you just scrape the Standard awards with 8 points or did you receive 10 or 11 points ?

In the end, it is only a decision that you can make.

Have you requested copy of the PA 4 Medical Report, if not, you can request copy of it by ringing the PIP Helpline :

PIP Helpline :

Telephone: 0345 850 3322
Textphone: 0345 601 6677
Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm

As you may know, you have once month from the date of your PIP Decision Notice letter to request an MR of the decision in writing : Sending Documents to the DWP, ATOS, Capita or Maximus.

See : PIP MR/Appeals Guidance.

See also : Motability Transitional Support Package

Extract from the above :

"What are the timescales for taking the car back?

The DWP will continue to pay your existing level of DLA for four weeks after their decision that you do not qualify for the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of PIP. Once we have been informed of the DWP’s decision, we will write to you with details of how to return your vehicle. You will be able to keep the car for a maximum of 21 days after the DLA payments stop.

It is very important that the car is returned within 21 days of the DLA payments stopping or you will not qualify for the one-off transitional support package."
