May I take this opportunity to thank all at the Benefits at Work site. I have just received my letter from DWP  to confirm I am eligible for support group esa. Although it was a stressful 4 months after filling in the forms I am glad it's all over (for another couple of years)

The reason I am posting (apart from to tell you someone in the DWP can make a rational decision) I wanted to ask for your help...

I attended a medical at the end of March, I am now applying for the DLA (have never done before but after advice from the atos  woman and Welfare Rights I am going to do it) Anyway, I have read that they send someone to your house. Is this right? Even if they have assessed me within the last 4 weeks for the esa?

On a final note, if you have been refused support group, please don't give up, my thoughts and prayers are with you. This is morally wrong what is going on.

Hi JJ,

Congratulations on The SG award, and thank you for your comments regarding B&W. :)

An application for DLA may or may not include a face to face "Medical", the majority of such "Medical" are carried out in the claimant's home.

The DWP have been known to use ESA medical reports as evidence in coming to a decision on a DLA award.

As you had an ESA face to face, you may wish to request copy of The ESA85 Medical Report, this may include information that will aid your DLA application, it should also include the prognosis of your SG award, there will also be an LT54.

You can request these form over the phone, but we advise that you back this up with a formal written request, using a SAR.

See :

ESA medical – what forms to ask for?

ESA Forms

SAR :

www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/request-for-personal-information.rtf

From this page :

www.dwp.gov.uk/privacy-policy/data-protection/

The DWP often contact a claimant's G.P. in connection with a DLA Claim, see :

www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/medical-reports-completion.pdf

Remember, if you wish to be considered under the current DLA criteria, and not the new PIP criteria, you should apply before June 2013. (unless you are in one of the PIP pilot areas where it has already started).
