Thanks BIS and to all who helped.

Mum passed away on Monday, doctors again being utterly useless with the medical cert for cause of death (sorted now though). I have the practice manager investigating it as a formal complaint.

Least the DWP were quick once they got the form.

Hi ravenmiss,
Please accept my condolences. I totally understand your grief and frustration. Both my father and father in law passed away recently. With father in law we struggled to gain every piece of necessary paper too. There was a lack of cohesion as to whom we needed to contact to get urgent care and all the relevant certification. It clearly seems to be a widespread problem and I feel all your anguish.
To avoid any overpayments etc it is really important to inform DWP pension and PIP, and local council if relevant for Housing Benefit or Council Tax reasons that your Mum has passed away. Don’t rely on the tell us once service. (Sorry!)
Anyway you will have challenging days ahead, but despite the enormity of what has gone and all the bureaucracy etc, try and make some time for yourself and enjoy yourself, however extravagant taking time out may seem it is important.
I send you and your family much love. Take care.

Oh goodness really? We did use that service, is it common for people to have issues with it? I've not known anyone to have a problem :/

I can chase up each dept in a couple of weeks if they've not confirmed it in that time.

Hi Ravenmiss

I am so sorry to hear about your mum's passing, and I hope among all the paperwork and sorting out you get the chance to grieve properly. Do take care.

Hi, so sorry to hear of your sad loss. Personally I used the tell us once service after the death of my father and they were excellent. As you say leave it a while and double check if no contact from the various depts. I am sure there will be lots to sort out so pace yourself.
All good wishes
