PIP REVIEW was created by Karen
Hi I'm new on here
I'm anxious out of my mind as I have a telephone review on the 24th of this month ( week on Friday), it's the first telephone assessment I've had and I've no idea what to expect or how to prepare really,I suffer with physical disabilities and mental illness, I'm so worried about it, also I find it strange that i have not received a review form to fill in before I received my letter a week ago about the date and time for the telephone assessment,is this normal process now,if anyone can help me or advise me would be very much appreciated... thank you

Hi Karen

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

We have had a few posts on the forum similar to yours, so it seems to be a recurring theme.

If you have a look at our PIP guide at the link below you will see that there are a number of pages which include advice on telephone assessments. Yes, a lot of the questions are those that would have been asked if you had a face to face assessment. benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip

- Write yourself a bullet point list of any particular points you want to get over, so you have it by you during the assessment, tick them as you cover them during the assessment.
- have paper and pens to hand to make any notes such as the assessors name, date, time
- make sure you are seated in a comfortable chair, you are going to be there a while and at table to make notes
- if you can't hear or understand what is being asked then ask them to repeat the question
- don’t let the assessor rush you and get you flustered.
- don't forget to have a glass of water if needed so you don't get a dry throat and lose your voice!

Don't forget to contact DWP 48 hours after the assessment and ask for a copy of the assessors report called PA4.

Hi so i had my assessment last Friday, checked everything out on the guides and I was very nervous but answered honestly and truthfully over the phone assessment,i got the assessors name, but I've phoned today to request a copy of the assessment report and they have told me they haven't received it yet, I'm a bit worried, then proceeded to tell me that it would be best not to have a copy at all, because he was waffling on about all these clap trap reasons, something to do with added information maybe required from the assessor, and training for them, then told me that if I really need it to wait until a decision has been made, I'm really stumped now and quite worried, don't know what to do for the best.. please help.. thanking you

Hi Karen

Sometimes you will receive a text message from DWP informing you that they have received the report other times you will not.

If a telephone operator is unhelpful, and some of them are then ring off and try again. You should be able to get a copy of the assessors report 48 hours after the assessment. If you had the assessment on a Friday then I would contact DWP on a Wednesday and ask for a copy.

There are occasions when DWP will audit the file to check for accuracy, in which case it will take longer to get a copy.

I'll be short Karen.

Do not let them b*** s*** you.

Do not wait for the decision.

If you get the report and it is bs, you can write in ASAP to contest it. Search my other posts for details on doing this.
Best,
Denby

So I rang last Wednesday again to ask for a copy of the assessment report after being refused on the Monday,I received this today, and suprise suprise, half of what was discussed with the health professional wasn't even taken into account, like it wasn't even me having a phone assessment, now I'm just so angry and upset, like I explained i was tired several times and asked for my husband to answer for me,I was told no, asked for a break twice, assessor says I'm fine basically all functions no problems,I also explained that "my husband washes my lower body, helps me into the shower"assessor says "I need promting"
I can't shower myself and I can't cook a meal as I've burnt myself and smashed glass, cut myself, left pans on cooker and forgot them, nearly set house on fire,my husband cooks every day,so assessor has ignored this also, I'm really stressed out and worried, can I please have some advice what can I do now, should I wait for the decision, help please.
