I understand how frightened and upset you are at the moment but you need to manage your way out of this dilemma, if you leave it then there is a possibility that your PIP could be stopped but there are things that you can do that will prevent this.

First, contact your GP, you will need their support. Ask for a letter, and make it clear when the interview is so it is produced in good time to be sent to the Assessment Provider and the DWP. The letter needs to state that any kind of assessment that requires your involvement will be detrimental to your health and specifically that it will cause you "overwhelming psychological distress.

Don't waste your time phoning the DWP at the moment, your case is currently in the hands of an AP, so it is them that you need to speak to.

If this is the first appointment then you do have the option of cancelling the appointment but I would not do this until a couple of days before the appointment so that you maximise the time before a new one is sent to you.

When you contact the AP tell them the distress you are currently experiencing, that your GP will be writing to them and that you are requesting a Paper assessment.

thanks Gordon, getting a GP appointment is almost as hard as getting through to DWP. We have a 2 hour window to send a message via that ridiculous ASK My GP and it often closes much earlier than 2 hours as they are "very busy", I will try to get and ppointment soon but dont hold much hope especially withthe current strikes. I am on 17 different medications which DWP aleady know about but still will not leave me alone. The care from your Dr nowadays is non existant.
Also Will it be allowed that i can i ask for a copy of the chat that took place during the assessment??? because i know i will be so distressed i will need to end the call ASAP and forget to tell them things that are important.

My meds are for mental health, depression, anxiety, 5 different ones after my heart attack, more for my arthritis and constant pain and for my continence problems, as well as muscle releaxants for spondylosis on top of a previous suicide attempt. They wont leave me alone. Has anyone else out there had one of these phone assessments??? please let me know how it went

Regards

Hi Dylanc

If you did have a phone assessment - you are allowed to get a copy of the report afterwards and that is a PA4. Hopefully though you may be able to get help from your doctor and get a letter about the Overwhelming Pyschological Distress this is causing you.

You can always check phone numbers online by just putting the number in Google or using "whocalledme" or "whocalls me" websites. It isn't foolproof but if it has been searched by other people it gives you a good idea of whether it is genuine or a scam.

quick update, my Drs surgery uses that ask MYGP method to TRY and get an appointment, The service is meant to be open for 2 hours, from 9am to 11am just to send a message for an appointment. i was awake as i do not sleep, i was on by bang on 9am and managed to send my request through. I tried to add further informtion at 9.17 am and the ask My GP said it was not available for the day.

This is appalling and unacceptable and was sneaked in during Covid lockdowns. How is it allowed that you only have a 2 hour window from 9am to 11am, and then close after a few minutes. Do they not think people become ill outside 9am to 11am. adding to my mental health issues and super stress which is now becomming anger
