Universal Credit review - money, savings & investments query.

I'm on Universal Credit & in the lcwra group having had a mandatory migration last year from previously being in the ESA support group for many years . I have a message in my journal, which I believe is my yearly review, to check I'm still receiving the correct amount. This is my first time having to do this. Under the 'money, savings & investments' section in this review it lists the exact amount of money in pounds & pence that I previously declared I had in my two bank accounts - it then asks me to tick a box 'yes' or 'no' to confirm if this is still correct. I obviously don't have the exact same amount of money (I don't think anyone will as it's bound to go up & down due to various payments). I now have a few hundred pounds more in my bank accounts than I had previously & that which their records show - but it is still under £6000.00. Do I tick the box 'no' to say this amount isn't correct because I now have a few hundred pounds more than previously & that what their records show - or, because the total I have is still under £6000.00, do I tick the 'yes' box to say the amount showing on their records is still correct (even though it isn't as I now have a few hundred pounds more than that)? I'm terrified of doing the wrong thing so any advice is hugely appreciated.

Hi Moonbeam

The UC Automated Claimant Review is conducted by IT which would not have any common sense. You don't want to get a Civil Penalty for giving an incorrect answer. So just answer the question to the best of your ability by giving only the facts.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi David, thank you so much for your response - it's much appreciated. It was my first time of having a review so I didn't know what to expext & I was anxious about doing the wrong thing - I didn't want to submit my new bank account balance (which is still under £6000.00) if I didn't need to & if it would then trigger a whole new unnecessary & stressful reassessment - but I was also worried about getting into trouble if I ticked the box to say my bank balance is still the same & they then found out this isn't correct. Until your response, I hadn't realised that this was an automated claimant review conducted by their IT system. I followed your advice & ticked the 'no' box to confirm my bank balance isn't the same & I immediately received a response to say:that I must make these changes by a certain date or my money could be stopped. I immediately updated the amounts in my bank accounts to reflect my current balance & I then received a response confirming the changes that I have made..I was expecting to receive a response asking me to submit several months of my bank statements, as I understand people are being asked to do this, but I haven't yet received anything. However, I do realise that I still may very well be asked to submit these over the coming days. Thank you again for your support. (IThis is the 1st post I've ever made & I'm not very tech savvy, so I do hope I've managed to reply to your response correctly). Thanks again!

It's really stupidly worded. I ticked the no box, as obviously the amount I have is different to when I was migrated to UC last year. Then I was asked what date the change happened. I realised then that I should have ticked the yes box, even though that didn't feel right, that the question should have actually been asking if I had £6000+. I cancelled it, but that left me with a link in my to-do list, asking me to declare the changes. So I left a message in my journal, explaining what had happened, and the person who replied cancelled the link.

In short, it seems that 'yes' is the correct choice if your money, savings and investments total under £6000. I imagine a lot of people have been unsure how to reply to that.
