Chris

Medical appointments are, or at least were, often booked booked before the form was returned, but the whole system is overloaded and as a result everything is being pushed back.

Have you had a Decision from the DWP Reconsideration, as this is a precursor to your file being submitted to the Tribunal Service?

I think that the appointments for the 'medicals' are booked by ATOS and are not related to when DWP sends out the forms.

Regarding the reconsideration prior to your appeal, I have heard of these taking 2 or 3 months at the moment, I'm afraid :(

Thanks for both of your replies.

No I only had the letter confirming they have the appeal, nothing since then but if its normal for a 2-3 month wait then I will wait thanks.

On this form I put a lot more details down and sent a consultant letter (which I didnt send with last form) so I am hoping I may not even have a medical but from what they told my MP they havent even assessed if I need a medical yet and thats the wait.

Thanks

There is no harm in phoning up to ask what is happening.

Well this has been annoying me and I managed to find out my ESA50 was received (the first one for IB to ESA) on 3 jan and the medical was then booked for 13 jan. They didnt tell me if the medical was prebooked but that seems to be an immediate booking which gave them a narrow 4 day delivery window and its my guess IB to ESA are prioritised above everything else. I might do a FOI request to see if I can get any proof of this. My current ESA50 was received last tuesday 10 april. The same turnaround time would give me a medical on the 20 april. I find it hard to believe they have had a sudden workload change that size in the space of 3 months.

Luckily now I have a 01xx number to use for the DWP and hoping they dont cut it off and atos use 0800.
