ESA Support Group - Reassessed when?

Hi - Contribution based ESA , my partner's 3 years in the support group runs out April 2017. Does anyone know when my partner would get reassessed? Is it a year before like PIP or will it be closer to April?

Unlike DLA, ESA is actually an open-ended benefit although DWP do usually put on the computer when you might expect to be reassessed. Claim forms are usually sent out around 12-16 weeks before the reassessment date. However, the system did become very backlogged and DWP actually suspended reassessments for several years. They have restarted now, at least in some areas.

What this actually means is that it is impossible to know whether you are still due for reassessment or whether the date has been put back. It's up to you whether you prefer to phone DWP and ask what is happening or wait and see if the ESA50 lands on your doormat! Your current award will not finish until a decision is made on a new one.

Thanks for answering We only sent in his Pip form today so just couldn't have coped with an ESA one dropping on the mat at the moment as well.
