O.K. l1962 !
As your compensation was a relatively small amount, the Solicitor may not have felt it necessary to advise you regarding setting up a Personal injury (PI) Trust, as the setting up of a PI trust can cost between £800 and £1,200.
You would still have 52 weeks disregard for any PI Compensation.
Once any Compensation is placed into a PI Trust, it cannot be counted as capital, assets and saving with respect to The IR ESA means test or any other IR benefits.
Neither can it be counted in the future with respects to a means test for Care Needs.
You can research PI Trusts on the net as it is not something that we advise members on, it is just that I have personal experience of them !!
