I wanted my GP to do that letter re home medical assessment need for PIP but it was impossible today to push, she seemed in a hurry and I had no chance! Think I will have to try her another day. Thank goodness for all your useful tips on here. I never realised how complicated and painful these benefit claims can be.

I need to start thinking about gathering evidence. The health problem (I have only really just recently gone into depth with my GP by sending a letter) needs some evidence. Would my letter to the GP count. My GP is using my letter to go with her letter for a mental health team referral. Should I try to get a copy of the referral letter or is that not sufficient. My other health conditions go back years to a time when I did attend doctor/hospital appointments, these are old and prob archived so I am wondering how long it would take if I wanted copies for evidence.

You can send what evidence you want!
Your letter, I would assume, only details what you would include in a PIP2 anyway. A referral letter would be useful as it would suggest that your GP believes that you need extra assistance.
Any hospital treatment you have had should have been reported back to your GP Practice and should be available as part of the patient records they keep, you can make a request to see these. See

Charging for medical records
Although the practice have 40 calendar days to provide the information in most cases it is available in about a week.
