PIP claim and evidence

Hi, have done my homework as per the last entry by bro58 Now, this afternoon I am speaking to my GP about my conditions. I plan to start my PIP claim next monday (procrastinator that I am) but should I tell my GP today of my plans of claiming PIP or is it too early. I am hoping that if I am asked later down the line to participate in a face to face Atos centre assessment my GP will support me in that I need a home visit. Should I put this to my GP today or wait until my claim is all in the process

Hi C,

If you are to request a Home Assessment you should do so formally in writing explaining why you require one and why you could not make the return trip to/from a PIP Consultations Centre.

You could do this on a separate A4 page and include it with your PIP 2 Form.

If you can also obtain a letter supporting a Home Assessment from your G.P. explaining why your limitations dictate that you require one, I would also attach copy of that to the A4 page to be sent with The PIP 2 Form.

It is far better to get this request in as early as possible in the process rather than waiting for them to potentially arrange a F2F at one of their Centres then having to fight that !!

Not sure whether my last post went or not. If I started the PIP claim next monday, how long would it be before I received the PIP2. I assume I have a fair bit if time to get that letter from my GP supporting my need for a home visit, only today I am meant to be talking to her about my treatment and I am not sure whether there will be time to talk about that letter

Also as discussed prev with Gordon, I was ill advised by the DWP regarding eligibility for Contrib Based ESA. The advisors back in 2014 failed to inform me of special rules for carers. I have found this out myself just recently by reading legislation. I was eligible then but am not now. If I got a fit note and backdated it to Dec , then I would meet one condition but not the other. So I assume there is no point. I assume my claiming with a note saying about the ill advice back in 2014 would not get me anywhere. Just double checking as I am speaking to my doctor shortly and have the opportunity to ask for a fit note
