Unannounced visits for PIP recipients

Hi all
Gordon and Co., I stumbled upon this link and I submitted it on B&W NEWS SUBMIT A STORY around 10/2/2017 and haven't seen it since.

"Home visit to check your benefit payment is correct.........................reason for the visit is to collect national statistics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whatever next?
I understand however, that you are NOT obliged to open your front door?
They are in effect Cold Callers, are they not?
