ASD test results, follow-up plus ADHD. was created by NorthernHeights
Hi,
I'm already on lower/lower DLA and supported ESA because of ADHD. Maintaining the ESA SG is thanks to this Benefits and Work site I might add, thank you.
I just found out that I've also scored 10/10 on an NHS, ASD AQ10 paper test and I'm due to see someone at the Behavioural Genetics dept of the Maudsley Hospital in about two weeks.
I can't find anything about Autism as a simple search term on this site, so please can anyone advise me about how this might positively affect my benefits? Could I expect to be claiming more with this new Autistic discovery about my brain?

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
Neither ESA nor DLA are awarded because the claimant has a specific condition, you are assessed on the impact that your conditions have on your ability to carry out a relevant set of activities.
ASD, as I am sure you know, is not something that someone suddenly starts suffering from, you will have been previously assessed on the way that you are effected by your ASD even if you did not realise that you were so impacted.
So this result really doesn't change anything, although it will be of assistance when you are invited to claim PIP at some time over the next couple of years.
