Query regarding letter I got tday

I got a letter today from the DWP saying they are going to phone me as they need to look at my ESA claim, its not regarding my reassessment as that is not due until 2019, I had a letter.
Its specifically to see if I qualify for income related ESA from 9th January 2014.
I am confused about this letter as I thought they would know that I don't qualify for income related ESA.
I recently sent them my pension letter from my ex employer in the pre paid envelope they provided.
Please can anyone help and explain why they would suddenly think I qualify for income related ESA when they know I have been on a pension since 2006 for early retirement.
thanks

I think this is a standard letter being sent by the DWP to all former Incapacity Benefit claimants who were moved to ESA to see whether they should have received ESA(IR) at the time of transfer.
Just tell them about your pension when they call, it's a different team from the one that manages your ESA claim.

Thank you for your reply, I went on ESA in early December 2013 not 9 Jan 2014.
I have another query please. They say if I am eligible I may be entitled to extra payments called 'premiums' what are these, as I don't know if I am eligible or not, thanks.

The Premiums are listed in the following with their eligibility criteria.
ESA Premiums
You have nothing to lose by letting the DWP look at whether you would be eligible for ESA(IR) although I think your pension will prevent this.
