Mandatory Reconsideration was created by Mark
I have been told that a MR decision has been made. They wiill not tell me over the phone and said i have to wait for a letter. They told me about the original decision over the phone which was no award given. Is it usual that you have to wait for letter for MR and they wont tell you. I am guessing it is not good news . Can you tell me if this is normal. Grasping at straws now

The fact that they can't tell you what the MR Decision is, does not reflect on what the result actually is. Call Operator can see when a Decision has been made but cannot see the result until the system indicates that a Decision Letter has been printed and posted.

Thanks Gordon,
I rang back about an hour later and spoke to different guy who told me the verdict. No change. Still no award at all.

You have two options going forward, you can make a new claim for PIP, there is no waiting time, or you can appeal the current Decision, I don't recommend doing both.

In either case, you will need to understand the issues that have prevented an award and find a way to overcome them.

i did not think you could claim PIP again ever. Or, not with the same condition. It is complicated. Hypersensitive Carotid Artery sensitivity, Vasovagal Syncope and low pressure. My pacemaker was fitted 10 years ago but they dont always work mine has not stopped the fainting and blackouts that occur and affect every part of my life. The problem is that it is so complex that anyone except a specialist would not understand it. The sixteen letters from my consultant cardiologist have been totally disregarded. The information in the assessment claim matched the descriptors. I am waiting for the mandatory reconsideration letter so I can see what it says. The only way to overcome the issues would be to make them understand how this condition affects my life. If they do not understand or dont have time to research it there is nothing else to do . I will appeal and hope. Thank you

The PIP Appeal guide has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and the Submissions guide has a complete example that you can use to help you fill it in, you do not need to provide detailed reasons at this stage for your request.

Once your appeal is accepted the DWP will prepare their submission to the hearing and send you a copy, whilst you should wait until you receive this to finish and submit your own, you should start to prepare your own case, an increased award will only be made by your showing that you score the extra points for one, so I would start by going back through your PIP2, the assessment report and the PIP Claim guide to see how you might show this is the case.
