thanks ..
being on here I was led to believe that ESA and UC LCW were the same but I am learning they are not … I am unfit for work - long term disability under UC and my understanding is there is no permitted work anymore …how about supported work ?
I could have applied for contribution ESA and was told by my union that there would be no benefit for me doing this ...So it seems that there would have been a benefit as I could have gone and done permitted work.
I really struggle with the whole system at the minute the information I read from various sources conflicts and I don't know what is true..

From your original post, you are receiving ESA in the Support Group so I'm not sure why you have introduced Universal Credit to the conversation?

Hi Gordon I wrote ESA because I thought being under UC LCWRA was the equivalent of ESA and just made the language easier . My apologies so yes my situation is I am on UC

Also Gordon would I have been better off applying for income related ESA instead of UC ? Would you be able to explain what the benefits of that would be ?

My advice was based on your being on ESA, so some or all of it may not be applicable to you if you are on UC.

You haven't been able to make a new claim for ESA(IR) since January and before that in many postcodes.
