Hi Gary yes I meet the contribution requirements and I've had a look at the jsa qualifying conditions which are: must be available to work. not have a disability that stops you from working
I feel I wouldn't be available to work immediately as per reasons outlined previously; I wasn't able to complete my talking software training because of the virus and so from what I understand of jsa that if work is offered it must be taken up. I could only work in an office setting due to issues with vision..The other thing to mention is that I was receiving long cane training which has stopped. I couldn't get to work safely without being shown the route first, so again if work was available I couldn't take it up immediately.
Just so I understand if I had of applied for esa from my last job rather than waiting I could have applied for esa?
The issues you have raised are not reasons that prevent you from claiming JSA, this is not about your doing a specific job or one where you need to have completed the vision training, it is about your being able to do "a" job.
If you are unfit for work and your doctor is willing to certify this by issuing a Fit Note then you can claim New Style ESA, if they won't do this then it is New Style JSA.
