PIP evidence was created by Michelle
Hi all,
I am currently filling in the forms to claim PIP for a number of health issues, the main issue is having a permanent ileostomy which causes me a number of problems. The question I would like answered is whether or not I should include some pictures? I have difficulty in maintaining a good consistency of the output and the bag fails to get a good seal and as a result the skin around my stoma becomes incredibly sore due to the breakdown, would it be possible to include pictures of my skin to show the assessors? I also have to wear a hernia support belt, where would be the best place for me to include this in with my medical treatment?
Many thanks for taking the time to read my post and for any responses I may get. I hope you are all safe in the current situation.

Hi Michelle
There is no right or wrong answer to your question. Some people do include photographs and others don't. If you do - then have them clearly marked and make sure you link your photos to the relevant question. Yes, I would put in about your hernia support belt in medical treatment. If it's a hernia caused by your large or small intestine, I would also repeat it again in the area when you are talking about your stoma care.

Hello Michelle, just some advice re photos. I sent in some pictures but I copied them on everyday copy paper and on my phone assessment the assessor said that as the pictures were scanned they were not very clear. I did get PIP awarded but sent in an MR letter and this time sent the photos on photo paper. I did get the extra point that I needed to gain a higher award although not sure if the photos were beneficial at that point. So basically I am suggesting you use photo paper in order that they turn out clearer when scanned.
