Given pip for 10 years when a letter came was created by emeraldshine
I have just found this on here and something like this has just happened to me this week.
I received a letter telling me that my award has been extended until 5th March 2022 because of Covid. I have my award letter where my PIP award started from February 2019. It stated the award is ongoing and they will contact me 15 Dec. 2028.
I spoke to DWP and they said that the letter says my award is on going but perhaps it had an end date and the the letter was sent out but was written incorrectly and they are going to look into it for me. I am a nervous wreck now how can they tell me they made a mistake?

Hi Pauline

I've moved your post as we ask people not to ask new questions on someone else's post as it can be confusing and that post was more than a year old.

How can they make a mistake? sometimes they do - no system is infallible, and it's awful for anyone who finds a mistake has been made, but until you hear from them you don't know that it is a mistake.

The PIP legislation does allow anyone with a PIP award to be reviewed - at any time including those with an ongoing award.

I would wait until you hear from them.

Thank-you for replying to me. The thing is I had a long struggle to get that award and ended up putting in an appeal as a last resort. The D.W.P then contacted me telling me that they had decided to change their mind and would give me a different award and more points and they cancelled my appeal. Surely they knew what they were doing when they sent all paperwork of my award. It all seems strange to me. H ow long before I hear from then? Should I write confirming my phone call and say I am waiting to hear from them in writing?

Hi Pauline

Are you happy with what they have offered you?

It does happen quite frequently when you appeal a decision, the claimant will sometime after getting the bundle of documents get a call from DWP saying they have looked at the decision again and will offer xx and yy. At the time of the phone call you can argue that you should be offered a high award for xx and yy but you need to argue your case, same as at the tribunal.

DWP will contact HMCTS, inform them of the revised decision in your favour and your appeal will lapse. If you are unhappy with the offer you can still appeal but you will need to make a new appeal.

I cannot tell you how long to wait until you hear from the DWP, under normal circumstances it would take a few days. I would phone the DWP and ask them to confirm the offer.

Gary thank-you for your reply, could you please read my first post again as I think you have misunderstood my problem :

M y appeal went back to end of November 2018 the DWP later contacted me because they had decided to look at my situation again and they decided to offer me a different award. I was mainly concerned about the mobility part and my points went from 0 to 12 which is what they should have been in the first place.. I was happy with my new award and accepted it.
The award started February 2019 with ongoing award (no end date given) and told they would contact me again 15th December 2028.
M y query is that I received a letter a few days ago talking about my review and it would be in M arch 2022. I have spoken to them and they are looking into it. T hey told me the appeals person may not have put the correct information into the computer and maybe my award should have had an end date. That is what I am now waiting to hear about. hope that makes things clearer. Any further advice appreciated.

Yes, I think Gary failed to page back through your topic to see your previous posts.

We can't really offer any additional advice until you hear back from the DWP about your current award.
