ESA-PIP going abroad for medical was created by anees292
Hello
Need you advise and information, I am on ESA S/G and PIP both higher rate, someone send me a doctor link who is very good about my illness. I want to go abroad to see him its take around 4 to 6 month as this doctor told me then hopefully I am feeling much good and better. I have been many website and read about I can stay 6 month abroad for medical reason. Is this the right information, what should I do and where to start. Thanks in advance as always.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Yes, you can go abroad fr up to six months to receive medical treatment but this treatment must be acceptable to the NHS, I would start by contacting the DWP to see how they want to approach this request.

Hi Anees
From your reply I think you may have misunderstood what Gordon said about contacting the DWP. He is not suggesting that he will do this on your behalf as this is outside the scope of the forum, what he is suggesting is that YOU contact the DWP yourself.
Best wishes

Start with your GP because they are going to be the first person asked if this foreign medical treatment is justified.
