Hello
I get SDP on esa In support group I applied for UC Change of circumstances but I was told I should have stayed on esa because I shouldn’t have been allowed to claim UC

Hi Sarah
The information you were given is correct unless you live in the Harrogate area.
A gateway was introduced from 16 January 2019 to prevent those claimants entitled to the Severe Disability Premium (SDP) as part of their legacy benefit from claiming Universal Credit.
The question is why did you apply for UC when you were in receipt of ESA and in the support group as you would have lost all your premiums such as EDP, SDP.

Hi Sarah
As soon as your partner moves in then you are no longer eligible to claim SDP unless you partner is also in receipt of a qualifying benefit such a PIP daily living, AA, DLA middle care.
If your partner is not in receipt of a qualifying benefit then claiming UC would be your option if you were looking to claim the housing element.
You could try an online benefit calculator to what benefits you may be entitled to. www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators
