Pensioner PIP renewal was created by amandajane
Hi all. My husband was awarded PIP in Nov 2018 for a 3-year period, daily living lower rate, mobility higher rate. He turned 65 in March 2019. He has received a letter today from the DWP saying that they are extending his end date from Nov 2021 to August 2022 due to Coronavirus. Although we are grateful for this, we had hoped that he would get a 10-year light touch renewal as he is now a pensioner. Tried to phone DWP but got cut off. Does anyone have any experience of this situation? Thanks in advance for any replies and good luck to all.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Amandajane -
His original end date was not until Nov 21 and that is why you are yet to hear about the light touch review. The extension is due to COVID - so the system is not thinking about the specifics of individuals - it is just spewing out automated letters for certain dates. And these letters are about extensions - not reviews. I would expect you to hear about the light touch review sometime after Jan 22. Be aware though -things are coming out at any time so that is not a set date.
