Using a recording and other PIP questions was created by Peggy10
Hello I have received a text from Capita stating my telephone assessment will take place a week today . I called to request that my assessment is recorded and was told that this facility is not set up and only face to face assessments can be recorded . Please advise if this is definately the case or if not what I should do . Thanking you in advance

Hi Margaret

I moved your post. We ask people not to post questions in someone else's post as it can lead to people getting confused.
The government minister assures people that recording is in place but Capita and the Assessment Services keep saying it isn't. I don't know of any member who has had their telephone assessment recorded.

I believe that you can ask for the interview to be recorded. and then a different date is given and the assessors dont make it apparent....
But wait for a moderator to clarify.

When the recording of telephone assessments was announced it was noted that Capita did not have the equipment to provide this and would need to investigate how they would provide the service.

Why not just make your own recording without telling anyone?
As I understand it, under the Data Protection Act the interview is private to you and not the interviewer, who is there in a professional not personal capacity. This would mean there are no restrictions on you making a recording as you are not breaching the interviewer's personal privacy.
Is the problem that subsequently your personal recording may not be accepted as evidence as readily as an official recording would be?
