Hi Foz
Yes you can, we have an excellent guide to help members claim DLA, it was last updated in March this year. The guide is good in claiming for DLA but there has been a number of changes in regards to face to face assessments and appeals due to Covid-19.
Have a look at our Child DLA Claim guide to see the child meets the criteria for an award.
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/dla/#dlaclaims
Remember you need as much supporting documents to help you with your claim as you can get, is the child under CAMHS? If they are then ask them for a supporting document, they may even help you complete the form.
Remember, DLA is not a points based system it totals the amount of care needed in regard to a number of bodily functions such as eating, washing and dressing, there are others, care is also subdivided between day or night and day and night needs.
Also, for children, their care needs are assessed against the needs of a healthy child of the same age and development.
If you have any further question, please come back to the forum.

Hi Foz
Let us know how you get on, I have had a word with Steve in regards to updating DLA, it was last updated in March 2020. You will need to keep coming back to check when the updated version has been posted.
The main body of the guide is fine the part that is being updated is the section on the assessment, this has changed due to Covid-19.
If you have any further questions then please come back to the forum.

hi i just called the dla and they made a decition which they tottally refused any sort of award saying she doesnt require any care for a child the same age and i should make ajustments to her care basically .
i am quite dissapointed with the outcome as beleive she does i used the guides and stiill was refused.
