Hi Sarah
I am not sure from your post if it is a new claim you are talking about or an existing claim. If it is a new claim then it will be called NS ESA, if this is the case then from what I last heard, DWP are working through the assessments in date order, you may be able to get moved further up the list if you can get you MP invloved.
If you have an existing claim, this may be called CB ESA if you claimed a few years ago.
ESA is an indefinite award with scheduled reassessment based on the Prognosis Date completed by the assessor in their report, so your existing ESA award continues in payment until a new Decision is made.
Our ESA/UC Claim guide has a section on the questions you are likely to be asked during the call.

Hi
Yes it’s a old claim
But I’m still waiting for a telephone assessment
I’ve been waiting since July 2020
Has anyone else been waiting this long
What are the normal times it takes to get an assessment
Thanks

Hi Sarah
You'll usually need to have a medical assessment after you've sent back your capability for work questionnaire. In normal times you'll get a letter 1 to 2 months after you've sent your questionnaire back but unfortunately we are not living in normal times. There is a backlog, the last I heard from DWP was that they are doing the assessments in date order. You could contact DWP to see what is happening to your claim, if no Joy contact your MP for help.
If you want to try and move you assessment up the chain you could ask your MP for help. Unfortunately some MP's are more pro-active than others, I would copy in Thérèse Coffey Secretary of State at the Department for Work and Pensions (This email address is being protected from spambots.
