Hi again, 2014, had to go all the way to tribunal, max x 2, 2017 ditto, 2020 was the first time I had got the PA4 asap after assessment and wrote in immediately to, frankly, take it apart because there were so many lies/inaccuracies/ wrong assumptions in it. Also this was the first paper based one because she went into meltdown at the prospect [after months of waiting] of a phone assessment without me physically there due to Covid. Never let the b's grind you down!, keep reading the guides, make notes as you need to help you with the forms. I made a card written in bold marker pen about the 'safely, to an acceptable standard, in a normal length of time, as often as you need to' thing from here and propped it up in front of me as I worked.
Best wishes, Denby

Heyyy,

Thank you, it’s awful that they have put your daughter through this. I’m dreading it.

I’ve typed a lengthy letter that’s taken me all week as I need to do bits by bit. I hate the way they don’t taken into consideration the after effects, I could barely walk yesterday or stand I felt so weak! I have hospital appointment on Tuesday so know if I don’t rest I won’t be able to go and I’ve re arranged it twice already.
I don’t know how to explain to them that yes I might be able to go to my appointment and ‘look’ ok but I seriously suffer after!

There is a few things they haven’t taken into account ie I can’t take stronger pain killers due to allergy, so they have wrote says she’s in lots of pain but only takes paracetamol. They have also wrote that because I have a bath (hand rails to get in and out) on my own and I can wash my own body (clearly stated I can’t wash my hair due to pain fatigue) that this means I am able to cook a meal using an aid!!! How is me laying in a bath splashing water on me the same as standing cooking? Or holding a pan full of water!! It’s so frustrating, I don’t know if what I have written is good enough but I’m drained with it all so it will have to do and I just have to hope it’s ok fingers crossed.

Thank you all for help x

Hello Kelellisjesse,

'It's so frustrating'. I think many many people who are involved with the application side of benefits could take that as that their mantra, and I could feel the frustration coming through your post.

If you have not done so, please make sure that you include in your letter the stuff which you have put in your post. If you have not done so, and are not up to editing the document I would suggest that you just attach a p.s. at the bottom of your letter and say something like 'Having finished my letter to you, I had to take to a break, but then in an attempt to release my frustration I wrote..... and go on to quote the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs of your post above.

I do hope they hear you,
Catherine

Hi Catherine, yes definitely feeling the frustration today.

I think I’ve added most of what I’ve wrote in here in a round about way, but I will go back and read it before I print and post it. Thank you again really appreciate all the help and support.

Quick question I’ve wrote this below on the moving around side of things, do you think this sounds ok? Or am
I missing any terminology out of there?

On a better day I might be able to walk 50 metres plus but this will leave me with significant pain, dizziness fatigue that will leave me bed bound for days after I have done this walk. So I would not be able to reliably do this walk again the same day due to pain and fatigue and other symptoms listed above or for the following days after this. No where on this form has it taken into consideration how I feel and the symptoms it leaves me with after I have done certain activities, the exhaustion the pain the list is endless and due to my medication allergies I am unable to take any thing to try and help or ease this. This is more than 50% of the time.

Hi Kelellisjesse,

Giving individual advise about what people should write in their submissions is really beyond the scope of this forum, and even if it was within the scope it would be hard for us to do when we have not spent individual time with someone and come to an understanding of their issues.

However, what you have quoted looks to good to me, and seems to cover all points. Just one thing, your last sentence 'This is more than 50% of the time' feels a little like an extract from a guide - perhaps you could make it more personal by estimating what % of the time it is for you, or on average how many days a week.

You have obviously put a lot of effort into this, and I hope you get the right decision.
