MEDS Tried was created by CD0912
Is it worth putting on the pip form the meds I've tried, which rheumatologist took me off because of allergic reactions and bad side effects for rheumatoid arthritis?
Thanks

Hi CD0912,
PIP is awarded on the basis of your lack of ability to do the activities set down in the descriptors Often DWP state that 'because claimant only takes eg paracetamol, this indicates that functional limitation is only slight = zero points.'
I think by explaining what medicines you have tried, and which haven't worked may hopefully persuade DWP to believe that your condition is serious, even though you may only be taking basic medication. Maybe you can get a full report from your rheumatologist, or GP? Failing that you could ask for a copy if your GP notes, which should confirm the various medications tried.
The members guides give lots of information that may also help. Please check these out, if you haven't already done so.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.
I have prednisolone when needed and had a steroid shot in my bum yesterday but obviously these are not on 'repeat' prescription. Someone told me to send a repeat prescription list with my form but the only 2 things on it would be methotrexate (for ra) and one other med for anxiety.

Hi CD0912
You can always send in a copy of your repeat prescription and just mention the steroid and prednisolone. After all - the steroid would never be put on repeat.

Hi CD0912. another thing you could add is printouts of the NHS page on Methotrexate. It's pretty 'nasty' stuff and the NHS info might help convince them that having few meds does not mean few/slight problems. Ideally include the date accessed so they can see it is up to date. Best wishes, Denby

Hi CD0912,
If you have a recent packet of prednisolone you could include a photo of the label on the packet, explaining that it is not on your repeat, but prescribed it as needed.
