Hi. Something that might help.
I get points for ‘using an aid or appliance’ as I need to sit down to get dressed as my legs are ‘wibbly-wobbly’ and weak and I may fall over (and have a history of falls). I specifically state that I bought a sofa for my bedroom especially for this purpose. FUNCTIONALITY is always the focus x

Just to slightly muddy the water on the loose clothing bit. Gary is right that you don’t get points just for wearing loose clothing. But if the reason you are wearing them is because you cannot manage other clothing then you may get points on the basis that you need help to wear your clothing of choice. (And remember PIP is about the help you need, not the help you get.)

I know a lady who has arthritis in her hands. She is unable to wear trousers with a fastening and zip since she cannot manage these when she needs to use the toilet. She therefore wears loose fitting (maternity) trousers. She gets points because she needs help putting on, and taking off, her trousers, even though for obvious reasons she actually prefers to be independent and wear loose fitting ones which she can manage unaided.

Hello again… another thing to think about…
1. What would an able-bodied person do?
2. What would your brother do??

Sometimes us crips are so used to adapting, that this is our ‘normal’, so these DWP forms can be incredibly difficult.. we are also used to focusing on positives, as amazingly thinking of ourselves as completely useless and/ or needing help isn’t good for our mental health x

I'm sure our daughter who wears loose stretchy clothing, slip-on shoes and front fastening bras only because of hand issues, did get credited that this was in effect an aid, previous time [last F2F].
Hope that helps, Denby
