Thanks for your reply but like many,i suspect,i'm wary of calling the DWP because i'm worried by calling them i might trigger off an assessment which is the last thing i need at the moment.Which is why i was hoping to hear th DWP still have a backlog and reassessments are being deferred.

I'm also worried that in my migration from DLA to PIP i went from going from having an ongoing award for DLA to having a PIP award of just over two years. And as a result the DWP might see me as someone they can drive off ESA as well.I know that sounds like paranoia but that;s how the DWP make me feel and to be honest it makes me feel suicidal at times.

Hello Ben,

I can understand how you feel about ringing the DWP. It is possible to ring them up, refuse to give information at the security stage and say that you just want to ask a general question, not one linked specifically to your account. However, because they are not used to people doing that, it can take a bit of bravado. (If you have a friend or relative you can rope into this you can ask them to make the call on your behalf. They can then explain how concerned you are, but since they will not know your security details they can only be given a generalised answer.)

With regards to your concern about your migration from DLA to PIP I think those fears are groundless. The government introduced PIP because so many people were on ongoing DLA awards and they felt that they could not afford to keep paying them. The vast majority of people who were on ongoing DLA awards migrated to much shorter, and yes 2 years, PIP awards. I know emotions are not logical, but please try not to allow your bad migration experience to fuel fears of further trouble.

Catherine.

So sorry Ben [though not surprised] to hear that DWP make you at times feel suicidal. may I say a few things?
Firstly if it gets bad please please do reach out, be it to Samaritans or one of the several sites/helplines specially for blokes who so often bottle things up.
Secondly, recently I suggested another member diarised her bad feelings, and one of the inspired Mods said they should do a second diary, for themselves, of all positives even small ones to encourage themselves. So maybe consider starting two diaries like that. Then you have the bad one to add to evidence for your claim when you hit renewal, and if necessary to help you if you seek more medical help in the meantime. And hopefully the 'good' one will help you feel a little more evenly balanced.

best wishes,
Denby

Forget about it! ESA doesn’t have an end date. They will send you a claim form eventually.

Hi Jenga,

I would normally agree with you, but at the very start of this thread Ben said that he had been a review date.

Why can’t they be upfront about this? The misery and anxiety it causes is beyond understanding.
I am in support group and also have PIP enhanced both ongoing. When I’m “due” I’ll be a year from pension. What’s the point? I cannot cope with their ridiculousness and if I am summoned I will probably end up cancelling claim.
