Doctor did not mention ibs diagnoses was created by Chlorinated
I have digestive problems a results of which I have been getting incontinence throughout the years.

My doctor gave me a supporting letter recently however she refused to mention ibs as diagnosis as she said it does not affect my activities. As she is female and gastroenterologist told me my ibs could not be helped, out of embarassment I never told her about leaks on the way to toilet etc.

I thought I’d just get the ibs diagnoses in the letter and explain incontinence issues in the form however now I don’t have my diagnoses in the letter.

Would you recommenced still stating ibs in my form and explaining incontinence though there’s no documentation or is it better not to?

Thanks.

Hi Chlorinated

I'm sorry, but this is a decision you will have to make for yourself. We can't say what information you should choose to disclose on your form. GPs don't always understand the PIP forms.

I know it’s my decision but I’m just asking advice to help make that decision as you guys are experienced with how pip assessors work. Just your thoughts that’s all if possible.

Thanks

Hi Chlorinated, sorry to hear your GP was so unhelpful you were unable to be fully detailed with her. I have just had a bad experience with mine. I would offer you this; if you make a diary you can record all the leaks and worse. And all the having to wash down, change clothing etc that results. This will be confidential between you, the DWP and the assessors so no holds barred. This will show how often you have the problems, ie is it the majority of days?
Hope this helps,
Denby

Hi Chlorinated

I know that you are working really hard to put in the best form you can, and the best evidence, but there is no definitive answer to your question. I can't tell you what an assessor will think if you don't include a letter that says you have IBS - because different assessors may view the lack of evidence in different ways. If you are hoping to score points for managing toilet needs then you will need to talk about it. If you think you will have sufficient points for the award you want from other questions, you could choose to leave it out.

My point about not being able to answer your question is not because I want to be difficult, but because we can't advise you in that manner. We don't know you or your condition, or the strength of your evidence. That's why we say people need to decide for themselves what they include or don't include.
