Some peoples claims will still stop if they do not reclaim before their old claim ends, quite often on the forum we hear of Tribunal claimants who win their claim only for their claim to stop as they have not received a review form before their claim has stopped. These claimants usually have to make a new claim although I have known some who have been sent a renewal form.
Unfortunately nothing makes sense, even to those who think they know.
