PIP Review was created by routemaster
My PIP was supposed to take place in May 2023 but i received a letter from the DWP extending it to May 2024.
Does this mean the DWP looked at my claim ,decided they couldn't do a paper assessment but because of the backlog extended my claim for a year so my claim wouldn't run out.And to give them time to allocate an assessment date for me sometime in the future ?
If so does this therefore mean i could be called in any time between now and next May ?
Are most PIP Reviews still being done by telephone ?
Thanks once again for your help.

Hi Ben
The DWP may not have even looked at your claim yet other than your end date and extended it to give themselves more time regardless of the assessment type they decide on.
You could receive a PIP review form - any time from now.
Most PIP assessments are indeed being done over the telephone.

Thanks for your reply BIS.
Sorry my post wasn't clear.I sent the review form back at the end of last year.I subsequently got a couple of texts from the DWP saying they had my forms and would do the review when they could. They then sent me a letter extending my claim until May of next year. So does that mean i can relax for a few months? Or does it mean they looked at my forms, decided i needed an assessment but couldn't fit me in before my claim ran out ? So they could give me a date for an assessment any time now ? Thanks.

Hi Ben
That is a very hard question to answer without a crystal ball.
We have heard on the forum from members who have been given an extension for a year only to receive a telephone appoinment in the post a few days later.
As to relaxing, all I will say is get yourself fully prepared and don't leave anything until the last minute.

Hi guys,
I can confirm this happened to me. I received a PIP extension letter in April, then had a telephone assessment in May 2023. I've just recieved a text yesterday to say that the decision has been made, and I will receive a letter in the next 2 weeks informing me of the outcome. I am also not allowed to ring and ask by phone, I must wait for the letter.

Hi, well the letter arrived yesterday, and despite absolutely no changes whatsoever in my circumstances, other than being put on anxiety medication (Propranolol) - I found out, that my PIP award has been cancelled. Both the Daily Living and Mobility. Honestly, these people. Even on my PIP award it says "You told us you have difficulty planning and following unfamiliar journeys" (which I have done most of my life), and the assessor wrote - I decided that you do not have difficulty planning or following unfamiliar journeys, so cannot award you any points for this. Nothing was even asked about this on my telephone assessment, it was written on my original claim, so it hjonestly beggars belief how these people come to their decisions, but anyways, whilst I know each case is different, just thought I'd give you the heads up in case something similar happens, and you lose yours, or are downgraded etc. Awful times.
