Hello,

Can you please help me lm a little confused!

So l am a full time cater for my son. In the forms it says with each question “do you need the use of an aid or appliance…” , my question for you please is what do l put when l manage my sons full beds because he is unable to, so for instance it asks about whether he needs the use an aid or appliance to “manage his health condition “…but l give him his tablets at set times of the day as he can’t remember, he can’t open blister packs because of his arthritis, and he also doesn’t understand or have any concept about danger or the need to take medication so l do it all.

Sorry to ramble! What l mean is that even with the uses of an “aid or appliance “ he still would NOT be able to manage his health needs . So I’m wondering if l should say not to this on that basis?

Hi LondonLady

I would say "Not" - but I would put in the explanation of why in the nearest space or on an additional sheet (just as you have done so here)- because it saves an assessor having to ask why he doesn't use an aid or make assumptions or wrong conclusions to how his condition is or should be managed.

Thanks so much BIS, I really appreciate your reply. It’s so hard to know isn’t it . I really hope me son gets enhanced on both, he didn’t get HRM on DLA despite having a blue badge for his autism but he also got diagnosis of arthritis 2 years ago, which causes him to not be able to walk much of the time so I’m hoping for HRM PIP. But l am fully aware that more often than not people done get what they truly should due to the ridiculous ways they are assessed. Thanks again and good luck to everyone in the process of applying for pip.
