Council tax reduction Pip ADHD was created by Greeners
Hi, is it possible to claim council tax reduction in England when in receipt of Standard rate Pip and mobility for Adhd, Depression and Anxiety. It says the claimant must have a serious mental impairment and that you’d need a letter from your GP but my GP is not been helpful at all so everything has been done privately so far. I’m self employed and not receiving any other benefits. Thanks

First, I must correct you it is not "serious" but rather "severely", the difference is important.

Whilst I am not aware of a specific definition for "severely mentally impaired" I think you should take it as those suffering the most disabling of mental illnesses.

To qualify under this criteria you have the support of your GP or a doctor able to sign such a certificate.

You can apply directly to your Local Authority, there are other criteria that will offer a discount, see
