First time applying for pip was created by Karenda
Hi it’s the first time I have applied for pip. I rang for the form on 5th June 2023 and I had my phone assessment on 8th September. The phone assessment took 95 minutes. About 3 hours later I received a text from DWP saying they had received the written report of my pip assessment and that they would write to me with a decision within the next 6 weeks.
I have quite a few conditions which I backed up with medical evidence and I am on medication for all the conditions. I was just wondering if anyone else had this experience of the assessor sending the report back so quickly. I don’t know if it’s a good sign or a bad sign, as I am new to this.
I will just have to be patient and wait for the letter. Thankyou in advance

Hi Karenda

The assessors are supposed to send the report to the DWP within 48 hours of an assessment taking place. I would advise you to get a copy of the assessment report. You can ring the DWP and ask for a copy - it is called a PA4. This will give you an idea of what you can expect to get awarded. Sometimes, the call handler will mistakenly tell a claimant that they can't have the report until the decision letter has been sent out. This is not true. If this happens to you, you can try and correct them or ring off and call again and ask the next person. It's always good to have a copy of the report - if you need to challenge the result or for the next review.
