Hi Gary
It is varying across regions, when it comes to your region and if you will be affected you will be notified by post that you need to apply for Universal Credit, you will have 3 months in which to apply, at the end of 3months if you do not apply your benefits will cease.
You may find a timetable on the Gov web site which area will go live initially, I believe it will affect single tax credit claimants. www.gov.uk/government/publications/compl...-universal-credit--2 and
www.gov.uk/government/publications/unive...018-to-december-2018

Hello Gary,
If once we are notified by post to apply for UNIVERSAL CREDIT and the receiver of that letter does Not apply to UC in time within their 3 months deadline, will it be only the TAX CREDIT that will be stopped or all benefits ie ESA? HOUSING BENEFIT ALSO?
Thank you!

Hi VIA
Thank you for your question.
The answer is no, it will not be just tax credits, it will be any means tested benefit that UC is taking the place, known as legacy benefits.
Universal Credit is replacing 6 benefits called ‘legacy benefits’. These are:
~ Housing Benefit
~ income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
~ income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
~ Child Tax Credits (CTC)
~ Working Tax Credits (WTC)
~ Income Support
