Hi Clara

I'm sorry that this has happened. If you want to contest the report, the next thing to do is put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration. You have to do this within one month of the date on your decision letter. You said that the report was full of lies. Have you got the PA4 report or are you just going off the decision letter? If you have missed the date for the Mandatory Reconsideration, you can apply to put in for a late one - and you explain that you didn't know the system and you are unwell and couldn't do it earlier.

If you have the energy to put in for an MR - we have a guide to help you. Don't fall into the trap of calling the assessor a liar - use language such as 'they are mistaken", "they omitted to say," or "they didn't understand." You can always complain about the quality of the report, but it's better that you put those comments into a final paragraph. The important thing is to look at where you didn't score points, and you think you should have done, and you show the evidence that you have.

The report said that you can interact with people when it's something you struggle with. This is very common for assessors to do this, but if you look at the Guide to PIP claims and Reviews - pages 70 and 71 - which covers this exact issue and what the Tribunals have said about it. You should find it useful. benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip

There is the guide to PIP Appeals (which also includes the information about putting in for a Mandatory Reconsideration), and there is a Guide to challenging a medical report - which you may want to have a look at.

I know it's a lot for you to take on - I hope that you can get some support from your care coordinator.

Come back if you have any questions and we will try to help
