House move: trigger?? was created by PrincessSarah
Hi :)

Can anyone please tell me if a house move triggers a migration from irESA to UC? Moving to Scotland from elsewhere in the UK, if that makes a difference.

Also claiming PIP, and I understand this will change to ADP, but would rather not change to UC yet if it can be avoided!

Oh, also, does being a homeowner (no mortgage) affect UC?

Thanks for any answers!

Hi PrincessSarah

If you do not have to claim any housing element, then a move to another local authority area, including Scotland will not trigger a claim for Universal Credit, you just need to report a change of address.

You will not be able to claim any housing benefit if you move local authority area.

Check with your local Welfare Rights Organisation once you move area.

Being a home owner does affect Universal Credit if you work, if you are eligible to claim the Work allowance and you do not claim any housing contribution element then you will be entitled to the high rate (£631) before the earnings taper 55% kicks in.
