Updated claim pip with new diagnosis

I was awarded pip in November 2023 after going to tribunal and the panel awarded me standard rate, and the judge explained to me they could only take into account my adhd diagnosis only ( other diagnosis came after start of first claim and said to after a couple of months asked for a review) so I asked for a review in march this year and put all my other diagnosis on, autism, ocd rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and a couple more, my partner used the guides for me to do my assessment and I had a call assessment last month ( which I asked to be recorded) and that lasted 2 1/2 hrs. Had my letter back last wk and was awarded 10 points, they decided I have no cognitive issues and I answered all questions fully and no issues, so how it broke down was I received 4 points for mobility that I didn’t get first time around ( as couldn’t take into account my arthritis) but they took the points of me the panel gave me for help with meds and communication with people. I rang up and asked how they could make that decision as my partner actually did the call for me and did all the questions and communication with them, and a panel awarded me the points, but your assessor decided I’m fine and can manage. So what is the point of the evidence you have form specialists when someone who isn’t trained in all them conditions says your ok. I said it shows you haven’t looked at my evidence or listened to call as you have made a decision without checking it so it’s shows it’s rigged against you.

Hi Karl

I'm sorry you're in this position. Assessors often think they know better than specialists, and it is maddening. Have you asked for a copy of the recording? That was a very long assessment. Have you also asked for a copy of the assessment report—PA4—which will give you a better idea of what the assessor was thinking.

If you're considering a Mandatory Reconsideration, you have four weeks from the date on the decision letter. The Guide to PIP Appeals has information about how to submit an MR.

Yeah I have started the process of looking again then will take it all the way, it’s absolutely disgusting how your treated and have to explain to somebody you don’t know and deep down know they are out to discredit you how your disability affects you, my first assessment call last year was 35 mins and was awarded nothing, it took 15 months to get to appeal panel and they overturned it within 15 mins and said I should of been awarded points at the beginning, now I’ve gone through a review and lost points for more conditions, and now will probably have to do it all again, the amount of stress and frustration it causes makes me ill, and yet they keep doing it to many people. You should be assessed by medical people who specialise in your condition. It’s a sad situation.

Hi Karl

I hope you won't have to go for an Appeal. When you put in for your MR - I would put in the fact that you won at Tribunal and include the comment about them saying you should have been awarded the points in your final paragraph.
