Hello,

I was refused an extension and my Managed Migration to UC expires in 1 month.

I am tempted to not do the managed migration as I should get a reminder giving me an automatic 1 month extension with transitional protection.

Am I correct in thinking that the reminder with the 1 month extension comes with the transitional protection?

I greatly appreciate any help.
Many Thanks and Best Wishes.

Hi VIA

I like your thinking 👍 but it does come with consequences 😉 speak to your local Welfare Rights Organisation.

Thank you very much Gary,

I could live without Child Tax Credit for a month but I could not do without Housing Benefit.

I will try and ring Citizens Advice Bureau Help to Claim anonymously with a pay as you go card to ask what happens when one misses the managed migration to UC:
- is the housing benefit are stopped
- is the esa support group stopped
- same with child tax credit
I may ring Scope as well or Turn to us.

It is also my understanding Child Benefit and PIP will carry on regardless.

Thank you and Best Wishes.

Hi VIA

When you apply for UC, all legacy benefits stop.

Child benefit and PIP are not classed as legacy benefits, legacy benefits are means tested benefits apart from Council Tax Support.🥴

Thank you Gary,
I really appreciate it.

I could not call my local welfare rights today due to a home emergency, this is why I asked UC if I could have an extension to migrate to UC, extension they refused.

Once migrated to UC, I will have to remember to notify the Council Tax I have been migrated.

Have a nice week-end.
Best wishes

HI VIA

Council Tax has nothing to do with migration.
