Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi ZombiesRock,
There is not an immediate worry as we are talking about what will happen with UC Managed Migration and the government stated in the Budget that some ESA claimants may not be migrated until 2026.
You need to find out if the arrears of Benefit were due to " official error " or " an error in law ". If that was the case it should be disregarded indefinitely after UC Migration.

Ah right ok.
If the Department backdated me benefits that were owed though that wouldn't be an error would it? When it all landed in my account I phoned up to ask them what it was and they said to was mine to do whatever I liked with it.

Hi ZombiesRock,
It is very difficult trying to remember what you were told that long ago. You really need to get confirmation from somebody in an official capacity.

It is and I can do that, yes. I'll have to sort through some paperwork and/or phone them. What if it turns out it wasn't an error though?

Hi ZombiesRock,
If it wasn't an error then we will have to attend to the issue when you receive your Migration letter. We have a new government and they may make changes to the administration of UC.

Hi David
I don't know where my other post has gone but I have received the migration letter. At the top, it states Universal Credit Migration Notice. I assume that is it. Also found the letter about the backpayment from the DWP.
It reads as follows:
'we have decided that you are enitiled to £17470 from 14th February 2013 to 3rd April 2019. Apayment for the above amount was issued to you on 3rd April 2019. We will not add £17470 to any other capital or savings you have told us about until your claim ends. If you make a new claim for benefits from 5th April 2020 your benefit may be affected by this payment.'
I assume this is bad news...I don't get any benefit. As you can see it was a while ago I received this payment and have spent relatively little of it and that has all gone on private medical expenses as that is what I desperately need it for. I have no interest in luxuries. I just want to get well again and be able to go back to work. I miss it terribly.
Thanks again so much.
