Extension with no deadline?! was created by Helen

A week before my UC50 deadline of 29/11/24 I called the assessment centre to ask for an extension. They said because of my health conditions I could take as long as I needed and to ignore any chasing letters, and they would still process the claim.
This makes me nervous! Has anyone else been told this?
I'm doing it as fast as I can but I'm very slow because I can't read or focus for more than a few minutes at a time. Is this a common thing to give people extra time with seemingly no limits?! Hopefully I will not need more than a few weeks beyond the deadline but I don't want any nasty surprises. I made a note in my journal of the conversation I had and the work coach confirmed receipt.
