So if I was to get Carer Element then in future, hopefully long into the future, I am no longer a carer would the LCW have been continuing to run in background even if I wasn't actually getting that payment? Or would I just have to be reassessed, start again so to speak?

If your remain on ESA and then move to UC without a break in claim then you will remain in the WRAG/LCW. If you keep your UC claim open but the only change is that you become a carer then you cannot lose your WRAG/LCW status without first having been through a Work Capabilities Assessment.
