Hello,

I submitted my claim to Universal Credit.

When is it best to contact Council Tax?
Prior to migration I did not pay any council tax.

Should I contact Council Tax:

- now to tell them I have submitted my migration to Universal Credit?
- or should I contact them once I receive my first payment of Universal Credit?

Many thanks I appreciate it.
Best wishes

Hi VIA

I would wait until you have received your first UC payment. That is what will be used by Council Tax Reduction to work out your Council Tax liability.

Thank you David,
I will do.

If I recall correctly, I may have seen a post of yours, helping out another member by giving out the correct name or department of the Council Tax we should contact to notify them we have been migrated to UC.
But I cannot find that post.

If it was you, may I have the name of that council tax department.

I really appreciate it.
Thank you

Hi VIA

It is the Council Tax Reduction scheme department for your local authority that you need to contact.
