Further Extension was created by Agis
Hello, I have called the dwp today with a help of Citizens Advice to ask for an additional extension. I have asked for one initially, I was given the first one, the second one they had granted automatically. My deadline is 23/03 and I called today with a help of Help to Claim Service and the woman from the DWP despite me having medical evidence and genuine Safeguarding concerns as a voulnerable adult, I begged her on the phone and she started to be what I could only call abusive towards me, she said that they will not grant me an extension as the reasons I am giving are the same but I do have a letter from a doctor explaining why I need that. She started being abusive to me, despite lack of my consent she told me that she is going to reffer my case to Complex cases team, she was abusive and told me I won't get any extension. I had to disconnect the call. Citizens advice have called me telling me to try again on Monday morning but it really worries me that she had left negative notes against my case and that they will not give me any extension. Citizens Advice tried to be reassuring but I'm scared now. If I didn't call them and just waited maybe they would have granted me extension anyway. Scared

Hi Agis

I'm sorry to hear of your experience. I know you don't want to phone the DWP, but if you don't, you won't know whether you have been granted an extension and you need to know. You can choose not to phone them, but that could be risky. I can't tell you whether you will be given an extension or not.

Bis do you know if she could have left negative notes on the system about me so that the next call handler will just know not to grant me an extension? Citizens advice said that it would be against the law but I think she did that. Also referring to complex cases team, I have nit consented to that but what if they do, will I then won't be able to call them and ask for additional time since it will be with that team? I'm scared she left bad notes about me.

Hi Agis

I assume that you are talking about a PIP extension. For claimants who are vulnerable a sticky note can be left on the system informing call handlers of the claimants vulnerability whenever theyphone in.

I have not heard of sticky notes being placed on a claimants file with derogatory remarks.

Can they do, can they leave a 'sticky note' for Universal Credit application extension?
