Hi Gail
New Style ESA is the same as CB ESA, and is not means tested, therefore savings do not affect the award.

On my current award i was put on income related ESA I think that’s the correct term income related I was put on contributions related then moved no one even told me. So it was suggested as my mam wanted to make sure I was financially ok if anything happened to her she’s elderly and a widower to set up the trust in her name and have me as discretionary beneficiary I’m now worried this will affect my benefits when I move to new style ESA

Hi Gail
What I believe has happened, your were in receipt of CB ESA and eligible for a disability premium such as enhanced disability. Disability premiums are not paid to CB ESA claimants only to IR ESA, therefore some claimants receive both IR ESA and CB ESA.
When you are asked to apply for UC, you will loose the IR ESA but keep keep the CB ESA which I am told will transfer over to NS ESA. NS ESA will be deducted £ for £ from any UC entitlement.
You will need to speak to a Welfare Right Organisation in your area to give you specific advice; advicelocal.uk, they will be able to take all your circumstances into consideration.
