New DLA medical in 2013 was created by simon
Hi
Can anyone shed any light on the situation I'm in, regarding the new DLA medicals in a few years time.
For nearly a year now I have been on the higher rate of mobility.....a decision that keeps me on it 'indefinitly'.
When the new medicals come into effect......will I have to go for one having now been given DLA indefinitly?

you might what was said in the budget was..............

The Government will reform the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) to ensure support is targeted on those with the highest medical need. The
Government will introduce the use of objective medical assessments for all DLA claimants from 2013-14 to ensure payments are only made for as long as a claimant needs them.

the word indefinitly does not mean for ever :-(

my guess is that just having been awarded DLA allowing for delays due to all the others being reviewedmight well be 2016 before they get around to you

Hi Simon, Indefinate awards used to be called Life Awards. All DLA claims can be looked at by The DWP, if something new comes to light. With regard the new medicals they have yet to go through Parliament and those of working age will be first to be assessed. Keep looking out in the Members section (NEWS). I am sure steve will post as and when he has any details, at the moment nobody knows is happening. Best Wishes

Hi Simon,

Just to add that as yet I suspect that no-one knows the answer to your question. But as soon as we get any inkling we'll let all our members know.
